Getting to Negril’s Swept Away Resort…
The preferred gateway to Jamaica’s resorts is Montego Bay. From there it is about an hours drive to Negril and Couples Resorts has an arrival lounge conveniently located just outside the customs area. Once in the airport arrival lounge you will be greeted by Couples staff and you won’t see your luggage again until you are in your room. You will also be completing your hotels registration forms there saving you the hassle of a lobby check in. Refreshments are also served in the airport lounge.
The transfer to Couples Swept Away is via comfortable air conditioned vans and with a bit of coaxing you can get the driver to sopt at a local bar for Red Stripes (the local beer) for the hours drive. It is a scenic drive passing through a few Jamaican small towns like Hanover, Lucea and Orange River.
You can tell when you are getting close to Negril by the vegetation. It gets thicker and greener. Negril is located on the western tip of Jamaica and since the trade winds blow from east to west, the thunderstorms exit Jamaica there. This gives Negril a refreshing afternoon shower or two late afternoons. They are welcome showers as the are usually short in duration and cool the heat down a few degrees.
